In today’s edition,

here are the three simple & practical ways I use to stop procrastination and get things done:

1. Break down your tasks and block time on them

Instead of tackling a large task all at once, break it down into smaller, manageable steps.

Think of it as dividing a big pizza into slices.

Each slice represents a specific part of the task.

Example: Imagine you need to write a research paper.

Break it down into steps like

Researching
Outlining
Writing
Editing
Finalizing

Block Time:

Now, allocate specific time blocks for each task.

Treat these blocks as appointments with yourself.

It’s like scheduling a meeting with your work.

2. Have a dopamine hit

The greater source of happiness for me is ticking off on the to-do list.

Yes, it’s important to eat the frog (big task) first.

But it doesn’t work whenever that task is the reason for procrastination.

So, to get started with the work, begin with a small task that sets the tone and motivates you.

After getting the dopamine hit of completing a few tasks, jumpstart to bigger tasks.

3. Create an environment for yourself

This working environment is of two types:

Inside
Outside

We generally create an outer environment with a clean and organized table.

Yet sometimes, we just don’t want to sit and get our head into doing something.

The missing point of the puzzle is aligning your inner environment with the outer one.

So, to recharge the inner environment, I have my favorite drink, be it coffee or green tea, play my favorite music list, and dance to the rhythm while enjoying the melody of the music.

When your inner self is joyful and the outside environment is clean, you get to do it yourself.

Pro tip: Hide your phone in a drawer whenever you are distracted by scrolling on social media.
